El artículo realiza un análisis del surgimiento y evolución de la teoría del desarrollo así como los diferentes modelos que se aplicaron en América Latina a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo pasado. Dentro del análisis se puede apreciar cómo se instituyo el estructuralismo como una alternativa propia y la vigencia de la teoría de la dependencia en la región. Concluye que aunque con algunas con rupturas y continuidades, el neoestructuralismo conserva la originalidad de la teoría latinoamericana del desarrollo.

The article makes an analysis of the emergence and evolution of the theory of development as well as the different models that were applied in Latin America from the second half of the last century. Within the analysis can be seen how structuralism was instituted as an alternative and the validity of the theory of dependence in the region. He concludes that although with some with ruptures and continuities, neostructuralism preserves the originality of the Latin American theory of development.
